Online Auto Detailing Kits for the Professional Detailer or Serious Do-It-Yourselfer Discussed
Does it make sense to set up an online business to sell automotive detailing products to the automotive aftermarket appearance and accessories industry sub-subsector? What about setting up an online business to specifically cater to the needs and desires of car clubs, antique automobile owners or serious luxury car do-it-yourselfers?
Recently, I was asked about this by an online Internet entrepreneur who desired to sell to the automotive sector and specifically to the higher-end serious auto enthusiast. You see, previously I was the founder and CEO of The Detail Guys. In fact we used to sell such auto detailing kits online. We had car wash kits for the little guy, DIY Do-It-Yourselfer and for the industry too. The DIY kits were $19.99 and up.
Our other kits were for 1-month, 3-month, etc. supplies for the industry, generally mobile auto detailers and we also sold some of these to the DIY market, although I really do not think that was ever our intended market. We often worried when shipping waxes and polishes in winter as they might freeze and then they were ruined, especially polymer solvent cleaner waxes. Most surfactants did not have issues.
Our larger kits were up in the $80.00 to $90.00 range and some were well over the $100.00 barrier. Although we no longer offer these, I see there are others who have even better products selling to the same high-end crowd today on the Internet. There are many things to consider in the online product business and keeping advertising costs down, helped us create greater profits enabling us to compete and keep the prices low enough for both the professionals in the Industry and the Do-It-Yourselfer to partake. I hope this case study on online product sales makes sense to you and that you will use this knowledge to take your online business to greater heights in 2007.
